A man seen forcefully exhaling on two women outside President Donald Trump’s golf course in Virginia has been charged with assault.
Raymond Deskins, 61, was charged with misdemeanor assault after a private citizen obtained an arrest warrant through a county magistrate, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday. Deskin did not immediately return a request for comment.
A video widely shared on social media shows Deskins blowing air on two unidentified women after one of them asked him to escape and pointed out to him that he was not wearing a mask.
This is the assault that one of the women said afterwards. I blew on you, Deskins replied.
The altercation happened on Saturday outside the Trump National Golf Club, where the president was playing. Protesters and supporters regularly gather outside the entrance to the club when it is playing.
Deskin wore a Trump shirt and an inflatable pool tube with Trump’s likeness around his waist.
Several members of the Loudoun County Supervisory Board sent a letter to law enforcement officials on Sunday calling for a full investigation. The letter stated that the two women had protested against the president outside the golf club.
The sheriff’s office said the altercation was investigated at the scene but law enforcement did not witness the altercation and the video did not capture her. entirety. The sheriff’s office said it had informed both parties who said they were assaulted that they could apply for a warrant from a county magistrate.
