Berlin: World long jump champion Malaika Mihambo of Germany wants to double the 100 meters at the Tokyo Olympics next summer.
Mihambo won the world long jump title in Doha last year with a jump of 7 meters 30 centimeters. It was the 12th best female outdoor brand in history and the best since 2016.
“This is definitely the plan for next year. I noticed that I really like the sprint, ”Mihambo told German magazine Der Spiegel in an interview posted on Saturday, but said it would be difficult to establish yourself as a sprinter.
“In the long jump, I am at the national top and alone at my level. In the sprints, however, there are many good girls. And internationally, the best in the world are still a long way off. “
Mihambo, 26, has sprinted occasionally during his career and set a personal best 11.21 out of 100 seconds last year. She had previously considered aiming for a place in the German 4×100 relay team.
