Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram escaped unharmed as his vehicle encountered a minor accident near the village of Chintada between Srikakulam and Amadalavalasa on Saturday afternoon.
According to locals, the vehicle veered into adjacent rice fields as the driver attempted to avoid a head-on collision with a rickshaw. None were injured in the incident.
Mr Sitaram told media he was on his way home to Amadalavalasa after a video conference with Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy at the Srikakulam Collectors Office when the crash occurred.
Several leaders and activists from the YSR Congress Party arrived at the scene and inquired about his safety. He said there was no need to worry as it was only a minor incident.
