Subrahmanyam takes charge as State IMA president


Small hospitals of Empanel in Arogyasri, govt. urged

N. Subrahmanyam, retired professor of neurosurgery and chief surgeon at King George Hospital, was sworn in as the new president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) – Andhra Pradesh branch, at the sixth annual conference of the IMA, virtual platform, here on Saturday.

The Minister of Medical Health and Family Welfare, Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, was present as the main guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Subrahmanyam called on the government to establish smaller hospitals in Aarogyasri. He also urged the government to issue a fire safety permit to hospital buildings less than 15 meters in height and a one-stop shop for all licenses to be issued to hospitals.

Minister of Fisheries and Livestock S. Appala Raju, MPs BV Satyavathi (Anakapalle) and MVV Satyanarayana (Visakhapatnam), Principal Secretary, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Anil Kumar Singhal, National President of the ‘IMA Rajan Sharma and IMA General Secretary RV Ashokan were present.

Other elected members of the Vizag include MV Vijaya Sekhar, member of the CWC, L. Kalyan Prasad, secretary of the College of General Practitioners, I. Vani, secretary of the Academy of Medical Specialties, and PA Ramani, zone vice-president .
