Karachi: Cricketers Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir received a pay rise after being denied central contracts by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The foursome have been informed that since they do not have central contracts, they will now receive match fees in category “A” which they previously received in category “C”.

The board, however, has not received another request from players that they also receive compensation for missing out on foreign T20 league contracts due to their domestic obligations.

Hafeez recently suffered a loss of around Rs 10million after having to withdraw from the Sri Lankan Premier League after being named to the touring squad for New Zealand.

Although Hafeez only plays white ball cricket like the other three, with Malik focusing only on the T20 format, the board also did not accept his request to allow him to join the team late in New Zealand.
