The Indian legends will face their Bangladeshi counterparts in the first match of the World Road Safety Series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur on March 5. The England legends will open their account against Bangladesh on March 7 while India face the English in their second game on March 9. The semi-finals of the tournament will be played on March 17 and 19 while the final will take place on March 21. All matches will start at 7:00 p.m. IST.

An array of stars including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Brian Lara, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Muttiah Muralitharan, and many more legends from six cricketing nations – England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh and India – will be back on the pitch to recreate the magic of the old in the annual T20 cricket tournament, held to raise awareness about road safety in the country.

The newly constructed 65,000-seat stadium in Raipur will be open to 50 percent attendance, in accordance with SOPs issued by the central government. Australian legends withdrew from the tournament last week citing the inability to travel due to strict COVID-19 Down Under restrictions.

As cricket is the most watched sport in the country and cricketers are regarded as idols, this league aims to influence and change the mindset of people towards their behavior on the roads.

The Road Safety World Series is an initiative of the Road Safety Cell of Maharashtra in association with the Professional Management Group (PMG) led by Sunil Gavaskar as series commissioner and Sachin Tendulkar is the brand ambassador for the league.

The first edition of the series had to be canceled after four games on March 11 last year due to the Covid-19 situation around the world.
