On Shilpa Shetty-Raj Kundra’s anniversary, a throwback to when she told him to stop wooing her with expensive gifts

Actor Shilpa shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, a businessman, completed 11 years of married life on November 22. The couple married in 2009 and have two children – eight-year-old Viaan Raj Kundra and newborn daughter Samisha Shetty Kundra.

Shilpa in an interview recalled their period of dating, which was somewhat marred by the fact that Raj was in the process of getting a divorce at the time. Shilpa said she was “ disheartened ” to learn he was married because when she first met him, she had no idea Raj was estranged from his wife.

She told Pinkvilla, “Four months later, Raj once offered to stay with him, as I traveled frequently to London. I was surprised to know his bachelor pad, and later he revealed he was getting a divorce.

She said he tried to woo her with expensive gifts, but was reluctant to take the plunge as she didn’t want to ruin the friendship they had developed. “He was trying to woo me with Versace bags,” she said. “He actually sent me three bags of the same style in three different colors, and I was amazed. He was constantly giving me hints. But I asked him to stop completely because I didn’t want to spoil the friendship and bond that we shared. Also, I was never going to move to London, even though I was dying to get married at the time.

But, eventually, Shilpa realized that Raj was serious when he told him that he had bought a property in Mumbai, intending to move part of his business to India.
