After being on the sidelines for almost nine months due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Indian men’s cricket team is set to return to international cricket with a number of matches and limited testing series against Australia from the end of the month.

The team led by Virat Kohli were last seen in action in the One-Day Internationals (ODI) three-game series against South Africa at home, with the first game between the two teams being abandoned without a ball to be played in front of the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to cancel the series due to the COVID-19 crises.

Australia, on the other hand, will advance to the series against India after a 1-2 loss in the T20I three-game series and a 2-1 victory in as many ODIs against England in September.

India and Australia are set to play a series of three T20I matches and as many ODIs, starting November 27 at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The two teams will then head to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with four tests, starting December 17 at the Adelaide Oval.

Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India became the first Asian team to defeat Australia in a series of Down Under tests in 2018-19.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue won a 2-1 victory over Australia in the previous three-game ODI series between the two teams in January this year.

Australia, on the other hand, will be eager to perform better than last time and eager to win the series against the team led by Kohli in their own lair. The hosts will confidently strengthen themselves with the return of their former skipper Steve Smith and former vice-captain David Warner who both missed the final heat due to their one-year suspension for their involvement in the bullet handling scandal in the south.
