How Virat Kohli Made Adam Zampa Feel Welcome At Royal Challengers Bangalore | Cricket News

One of the main battles when India takes on Australia will be between the teammates of the Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli and Adam Zampa. While there have been times when the Indian captain has dominated Zampa, in recent times the leg spinner has often got the better of him, with seven layoffs to his name. But Zampa has revealed he has formed a good bond with Kohli and said the prolific drummer looks a lot different than his fiery demeanor on the pitch when not playing.

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Zampa revealed how Kohli made him feel welcome when he joined his RCB teammates ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL).

On his first day with the team, he received a WhatsApp message from a number that was not registered.

“Zamps, here’s the $ 15 coupon for a vegan restaurant in Deliveroo,” one reads. “This is a very good restaurant.”

He later realized that it was from Kohli, who, like Zampa, is vegan.

“It was the first day I arrived (and) he took me away,” Zampa said. “I didn’t have his number. He pretended we had known each other forever.”

“It’s absolutely not what you see on the cricket pitch,” Zampa says. “He always brings his intensity to training and play; he loves competition, he hates losing as much as anyone. He probably shows it more than anyone.”

“Once out of the park, he’s the coolest guy. He watches YouTube clips on the bus, he’s going to laugh out loud,” the Aussie leggie said.

“There was a cricket clip recently from, there was a fun run, he laughed about it for three straight weeks. He loves to hang on to jokes like that.”

Speaking of the suggestions that Kohli would be his bunny, Zampa said, “I wouldn’t care.”

“And I really appreciate it. I’ve taken it out seven times, but they’re just a click away; the economy is well and truly over six races per over too. It’ll be interesting now that we’re closer.”

And can viewers expect word exchanges between the two on the pitch?

“Virat won’t tell me anything because he knows I don’t really mind,” Zampa says. “It’s exciting for me to get to this point. I still love this challenge. I love the challenge of bowling at Virat. He is probably the best player ever.”

Zampa and Kohli will face each other during the limited legs from the Down Under Indian Tour. India face Australia in three ODIs ahead of a three-game T20 international series.

The two teams will then face each other in a four-game test series, but Kohli will return to India after the first Test in Adelaide on paternity leave and miss the rest of the series.
