Fakhar Zaman Ruled Out Of New Zealand Tour With Fever

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman will miss the New Zealand tour.

Team doctor Sohail Saleem said Zaman tested negative for coronavirus Saturday, but the left-handed drummer developed a fever the next day.

The decision to remove Zaman from the tour was taken with the health of the rest of the squad as a top priority, the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement on Sunday.

Zaman, 30, was isolated from the rest of the Pakistani squad at the team’s hotel and was declared unfit to travel with his teammates.

A Pakistani regular in white ball cricket, Zaman has appeared in 47 ODI games averaging 45 points and an unrestricted 210 best score and 40 Twenty20 games.

Pakistan are due to leave early Monday for New Zealand to play three Twenty20s and two test matches. The tour begins with the first T20 at Auckland’s Eden Park on December 18.
