Sessions will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the minister said
Education Minister A. Suresh said on Saturday that classes would start for grade 8 students from November 23 (Monday).
In a statement on Saturday, the minister said parents were willing to send their children to school, which was reflected in the growing number of children attending their classes every day.
Students in classes 9 and 10 have been attending schools since November 2.
The minister said that the sessions for students in classes 8 and 9 would take place every other day while those in class 10 would go to school every day.
Steps are also being taken to open classroom education to students in grades 6 and 7 from December 14, the minister said.
A decision on classes for primary school students (grades 1 to 5) would be made after assessing the situation and the response of stakeholders after December 14, he added.
Given the winter, schools would operate from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., he said. They were currently operating from 9 am to 1.45 pm The modified schedules would come into effect from Monday, November 23, he added.
