BJP Seeks Probe After Rajasthan Minister’s Remark Against Congress Worker


Rajasthan’s Sports Minister Ashok Chandna allegedly used a caste insult.


The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for an investigation after an audio clip in which a Rajasthani minister was allegedly heard using a caste insult against a congressman was shared on social media.

During the alleged telephone conversation, Rajasthan Sports Minister Ashok Chandna was allegedly overheard using a caste insult against Congressman Raju Gurjar over a ticket to the panchayat polls in Bundi district and the ‘challenged to run for office.

The insult would have been made at the end of the conversation.

Mr Chandna could not be reached for comment as opposition BJP requested an investigation into the matter.

“An investigation into the matter should be ordered and if it is the minister’s voice, he should be sacked,” BJP spokesman Ramlal Sharma said.

Congressman Raju said he was threatened by the minister on November 8 for demanding the ticket to the Panchayat elections.


“I had been working for the party for 17 years and demanded the ticket for the elections of the member panchayat samiti from Nainwa district 5 in Bundi. I texted the minister asking for an update but he lost his temper. He called back and threatened me, ”Gurjar said.

He is now contesting the elections as an independent candidate. Voting in Nainwa will take place on November 27.

Mr. Chandna represents the constituency of the Hindoli (Bundi) assembly of Rajasthan.
