The south coast of Andhra Pradesh recorded no deaths for the second day in a row, while new cases continue to decline in the past 24 hours.
The toll remained static at 577 in Prakasam and 493 in Nellore district, according to a health bulletin released by the state government on Sunday evening. The death rate has come down to 0.86% as more patients have been cured in the past 24 hours compared to new admissions to the area.
With 90 new cases, the cumulative number of confirmed cases increased to 1,232,722. The caseload declined further to 1,547 patients, with 149 patients recovering during the period. So far, 1,818,448 patients have returned home to recover.
For the first time in the recent past, Nellore District recorded a very low number of 26 new cases, bringing the total number of positive cases to 62,707. For the first time, active cases fell below 1. 000. With 76 patients recovered from the disease during the period, the number of cases has dropped to 973.
In Prakasam district, the cumulative number of confirmed cases increased slightly to 61,265 as 64 people contracted the disease in the past 24 hours. With 73 patients recovering from the disease, the number of cases fell further to 574 in the district. So far, 60,114 patients have recovered from the disease.
